Manage Default Closeout Categories

Set the default closeout categories used when new projects are created

Written by Hannah Weidman

Default closeout categories help organize closeout documents consistently across projects. These categories are managed at the account level and are copied into new projects when they are created.

To manage default closeout categories, navigate to the account homepage by clicking the BUILDR logo. Then, select Settings from the left navigation and open the Categories tab.

Only account admins can modify account settings. If you need to update these settings and do not have admin access, contact an account admin on your team.

Default Category Groups

Buildr's default closeout categories are organized into the following types:

  • Drawings

  • Maintenance

  • Warranties

  • Other

Projects start with copies of your account’s default categories. After a default category has been copied to a project, changing or deleting the default category will not update categories in existing projects.

Add a Default Category

To add a new default closeout category, click New Default Category.

In the New Default Category window, enter the category Name.

Next, select a category type:

  • Drawings

  • Maintenance

  • Warranties

  • Other

Then, choose the category visibility:

  • Shared: Select this for categories that should be viewable to collaborators. This is the most common option.

  • Internal: Select this for categories that should only be viewed by your internal team.

Click Create to save the new default category.

The new category will be added to your account defaults and will be included on future projects.

Edit a Default Category

To edit a default category, find the category you want to update and click the pencil icon.

Make your changes, then save the category.

Changes to default categories apply to future project setup. Existing projects that already have a copy of the category will not be updated.

Delete a Default Category

To delete a default category, find the category you want to remove and click the trash can icon.

Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deleting a default category removes it from the account defaults for future projects. It does not remove that category from existing projects where it has already been copied.
