Manage Warranty Issue Settings

Set the root causes and trades used to classify warranty issues

Written by Hannah Weidman

Warranty issue settings are managed at the account level and are used to classify warranty issues.

Only account admins can modify account settings. If you need to update these settings and do not have admin access, contact an account admin on your team.

To manage warranty issue settings, navigate to the account homepage by clicking the BUILDR logo. Then, select Settings from the left navigation and open the Warranty Issue Settings tab.

From this page, you can manage Root Causes and Warranty Issue Trades.

Root Causes

Root causes help your team classify why a warranty issue occurred, such as construction defects, design defects, incomplete work, or insufficient maintenance.

These options can be selected when creating or updating warranty issues.

From the Root Causes section, you can add, edit, and delete root causes.

Add a Root Cause

To add a new root cause, click New Root Cause.

Enter the root cause, then click Create.

Edit a Root Cause

To edit a root cause, find the root cause you want to update and click the pencil icon.

Make your changes, then save the root cause.

Delete a Root Cause

To delete a root cause, find the root cause you want to remove and click the trash can icon. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Warranty Issue Trades

Warranty Issue Trades are used to classify and report on warranty issues by trade.

Warranty Issue Trades are derived from your account trade list in Settings > Trades. You can add trades to the Warranty Issue Trades list from existing account trades.

Add a Warranty Issue Trade

To add a trade to the Warranty Issue Trades list, click Add Trade.

Select the trade you want to add, then save your changes.

Remove a Warranty Issue Trade

To remove a trade from the Warranty Issue Trades list, find the trade you want to remove and click the trash can icon.

Removing a trade from Warranty Issue Trades does not remove it from your account trade list.
